Brexit and British Business Elites: Business Power and Noisy Politics

This article analyzes business power in the context of noisy politics by comparing involvement two British referendum campaigns: one about membership European Communities 1975, and Brexit Union 2016. By exploring these contexts, seeks to identify conditions under which elites can cannot be effective a politics. Three key factors are identified as determinants influence during periods politics: incentives get directly involved politics; legitimacy involvement; and, finally, capacity act cohesive way. The shows that have changed substantially over last four decades because wider changes nature capitalism, their impact on United Kingdom more generally is discussed.
